This fine estate, home to 8 animal species and a rich variety of Highveld bird species, bring you nature’s best. Explore the estate on horseback, bring your mountain bike or hike through the area on foot: there are a number of interesting and historic sites, including relics from the Anglo Boer War, to be enjoyed. Indulge in fine dining at the resort’s restaurant – booking essential – or visit the Jazz Bar for your favourite tipple. Dunkeld Estate’s restaurant encapsulates its heritage, as it is located in a 100-year-old farmhouse. Trout fishing is a major draw card and Dunkeld Estate offers 17 dams stocked with rainbow, golden and brown trout. The romantic setting and estate chapel makes it ideal for weddings, while secluded chalets and conference facilities make it a good choice for meetings. Fishing rods, reels and nets can be hired and fish can be cleaned and gutted for a charge. Trout catches are charged separately.
About the resort: Secluded and well-equipped self-catering chalets, allowing guests to view 7 species of antelope and zebra on horseback, or enjoy the sunset from the veranda. Dunkeld Country Estate has 20 Stillwater dams which are stocked monthly with trout , ranging in size , offering fly-fishermen enthusiasts the enjoyment of quality angling time in pursuit of that perfect catch. The largest fish caught to date is a rainbow trout of 3.2kg. If you are into bird watching, there is an unbelievable range of exclusive highveld species to be found in this area. The adventurous can take to the mountains on the Multi-use Mountain Bike Trail that is also suitable for trail-running or hiking. For the equestrian enthusiasts, the new Dunkeld Equestrian Estate lies on the estate adjacent to Dunkeld and is home to a Warm-blood Stud. Attractions: The new Sporting Horse Restaurant, situated at the Equestrian Estate, is open to all guests. General information: Reception hours are Monday to Saturday 7:00am to 21:00pm, Sundays and public holidays 7:00am to 21:00pm. Extra charges include: A conservation fee of R180 per vehicle or R360 per mini bus, this includes a fishing permit, valid for the duration of your stay. - Rod and reel are available for hire - Float Tubing is permitted - Bag limits are subject to sleeping capacity of accommodation – anything over bag limit is charged per kg rate. Cleaning and gutting can also be done at an extra cost. There are a wide range of activities to be enjoyed at a cost.
